The Government of the Republic of Maldives strongly condemns the attack by Israeli occupation forces, involving the opening of fire on a diplomatic delegation visiting Jenin in the occupied West Bank. This grave violation of international law and diplomatic norms is deeply concerning and must be unequivocally condemned by the international community.
The targeting of diplomats who are protected under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations constitutes a serious breach of Israel’s obligations under international law and undermines the integrity of diplomatic engagement.
The Government of Maldives calls upon the international community to fulfil its moral and legal responsibilities by taking concrete action to address these violations, ensure accountability, and protect diplomatic missions in accordance with the international laws, conventions and diplomatic norms.
The Maldives firmly believes that the protection of diplomatic personnel must remain inviolable, at all times, including during conflict.
