Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel sends Independence Day greetings to the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka

On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day of Sri Lanka, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, has sent a letter of felicitations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, Hon. H. M. Vijitha Herath.

In his letter, Minister Dr. Khaleel expressed his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to Minister Herath, the Government, and the people of Sri Lanka as they commemorate this significant national milestone.

Minister noted that Sri Lanka holds a special place in the hearts of the Maldivian people. As close neighbours bound by long standing historical ties, he highlighted the enduring friendship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, which continues to be strengthened through meaningful cooperation. He further expressed the appreciation to Sri Lanka’s enduring contribution to the development of Maldives, particularly in education, healthcare, tourism, and empowerment of workforce. 

Minister Dr. Khaleel reaffirmed his confidence that the spirit of friendship and goodwill shared between the two countries will pave the way for new avenues of partnership and collaboration. He also expressed his commitment to engaging closely with Minister Herath to further advance shared interests and to strengthen the warm and cordial relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Minister Dr. Khaleel also conveyed his best wishes for Minister Herath’s good health and well-being, as well as for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
