The Government of Maldives condemns the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque Gates by the Israeli Occupation Forces

The Government of Maldives strongly condemns the continued closure by Israeli Occupation Forces, the Gates of Al Aqsa Mosque for worshippers, during the holy month of Ramadan.

Restricting access to one of Islam’s holiest sites during this sacred month for Muslims constitutes a blatant violation of international law and represents a deliberate provocation that undermines the sanctity, legal status and religious significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Government of Maldives reiterates its call on the international community to take decisive actions to hold Israel accountable for gross human rights violation and its blatant disregard for the longstanding 'status quo' governing  one of the  holiest sites of the Islamic Ummah.
