The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has sent a congratulatory message to Toshimitsu Motegi, on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Minister’s message reads as follows:
“I am pleased to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency on your appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The deep-rooted friendship and close people-to-people ties between our two countries remain a cornerstone of great importance to the Maldivian people. As we approach the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027, I am confident that under your leadership, our bilateral relations will continue the development of multifaceted cooperation to prosper and reach new heights.
While we are grateful for Japan’s generosity throughout our development journey, I wish to reiterate our stand to support Japan in furthering the common goals, values and aspirations that we share, including towards a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
I look forward to engaging closely with Your Excellency and your team, to further strengthen our bilateral, economic and commercial ties for the common benefit of our two peoples.
