Maldives extends full diplomatic recognition to the Republic of Kosovo

19 February 2009, Male’; The Maldives has today extended full diplomatic recognition to the Republic of Kosovo. The Maldives is the 55^th state to recognise the Republic of Kosovo.

Kosovo declared unilateral independence on 17^th February 2008. The United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia and Japan were among the first countries to grant diplomatic recognition to the newest state in the Balkans.
