Visa Facilitation Service

The Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs facilitates all Maldivian nationals in obtaining visas from foreign missions that are accredited to the Maldives that are not located in the Maldives.

In instances, where the missions are located in Male (India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh), it is the responsibility of the individual to approach the respective mission and to obtain the relevant visa.

All necessary visa application forms and checklists can be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, please note that these application form scan also be downloaded via the respective websites of relevant embassies or high commissions.

All applications shall be submitted to the Ministry along with passports, and relevant documentation mentioned in the application guidelines.

In the case of visa fees that need to be sent along with the application, arrangements will have to be made by the applicant to make the payment directly to the respective embassy or high commission. However, if the respective embassy or high commission accepts a bank draft made in their favor, the Ministry can accept such a bank draft to be sent along with the visa application.

All visa applications will be accepted by the Ministry during all working hours. However, on Mondays and Thursdays, visa applications will be accepted until12pm.

It is the responsibility of the visa applicant to ensure that that the visa forms are duly filled, and that all documents are submitted as per the application guidelines. Any delays as a result of incomplete application forms or missing documents, is not the responsibility of the Ministry. All embassies and high commission have published visa regulations and guidelines. Please read carefully the information contained in the websites of the respective embassy or high commission before submitting the visa application.

The ministry uses a designated courier service to dispatch passports and applications to our missions in Sri Lanka and India and Singapore, who in turn submits the visa applications to the respective embassy or high commission. Once the visas reprocessed our high commissions also sends the passports back to the Ministry through the designated courier service. Hence, please note that the courier service can take up to three or four working days to deliver.

Please also note that visas of many countries are obtainable only after submitting the necessary biometric details. In such cases the applicant will have to travel in person to the country where the respective embassy or high commission dislocated.
