H.E.Mr. Ali Hussain Didi

Biographical Summary

Mr. Ali Hussain Didi began hisgovernment career with the Maldives Airports Authority as an Operations Officerin 1983 and gradually made his way up through the ranks and was made theDirector of Corporate Affairs in 2001. In the same year he was appointed as theController of Immigration and soon after was temporarily assigned the post ofDirector General of the Department of Penitentiary and Rehabilitation, where hespent a year. In 2004 he was appointed as the Chairman of the Municipality ofMale for three years, and appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of theMaldives Airports Company.  

Mr. A. H. Didi completed his primary education in St.Peters College, Colombo. He earned a Mechanical and Production EngineeringDiploma from Singapore Polytechnic and also holds a Post Graduate Diploma inTransport Management and Planning, Loughborough University of Technology,United Kingdom.

In addition to working at the Airport, Mr. Ali HussainDidi has coordinated the hosting of several International Conferences in theMaldives, which include International Conference on Effects of Sea Level Riseon Small States of 1985, the 1989 SAARC Summit, SAARC Council of Ministersmeeting held the following year and the WHO SEARA Health Ministers Conferencein 1991, amongst others.

A well accomplished and decorated athlete in his earlyyears and a sports enthusiast, Mr. Ali Hussain Didi is closely associated invarious sports circuits around the country. He has voluntarily occupied manyposts in the Maldives Athletics Association, notably serving as the NationalCoach from 1991-1992.

 Mr. Ali Hussain Didiis married to Mrs. Aishath Jumaan with three children.
