Over the past 50 years, Maldives and Japan have enjoyed strong bilateral relations and have cooperated closely on a wide range of issues of mutual interest. Japan has extended immense support and assistance for the socio-economic development of Maldives.

As close friends and partners in development, I am pleased to note that our bilateral relations have grown by leaps over the recent years, and I remain committed to working together to strengthen our bonds of friendship and understanding to new heights.

I wish to convey my personal best wishes for the continued peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Japan. I also look forward to visiting Japan this November to commemorate this important milestone year.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
