The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim has sent a condolence message to the Minister Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka,
Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, MP, on the waste landslide, which led to loss of several lives and damage to infrastructure. 

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“I was deeply saddened to learn about the massive rubbish landslide in Colombo, which led to loss of several innocent lives, damage to infrastructure, and a significant disruption of the lives of hundreds of people.

At this time of distress, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in sending our profound condolences to you, the Government and the friendly people of Sri Lanka. And in particular, to those who are being directly affected. I wish the recovery efforts every success, and commend the tenacity of the people of Sri Lanka during this challenging time.

Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families, and our solidarity with the residents of the hardest hit regions.”
